Ok I admit it, I hate Valentine’s day, no wait, I take that back, I LOATHE Valentine’s day.
I have never really had a great, fantastic, spectacular Valentine’s day, so I “lost that lovin’ feeling” for the great day of St. Valentine a LONG time ago.
And God Bless my husband for always trying to get me a sweet card or some flowers or something. And I love him for that, I truly do. But I think I’d much rather keep my money and let Hallmark have all the 1st loves, and the 1st Valentine’s Day and such.
But now I am forced with a dilemma. I have to at least give my boys a chance to love Valentine’s Day and hope that after all the candy years wears off that they will love it enough that they will make someone else’s Valentine’s Day super spectacular.
I went to the store, looked at all the possible Valentine’s. All the DIY Valentine’s cards and little bags that you can fill with candy and put little cards that have hearts punched out in them and make home made rice crispy treats to put in them and all that.
Uggh really? I bought Fun Dip, it already has a little place for a name, no stickers, no baggies, no messing with stuff until midnight making sure it’s just right, just for my boys to bring them in and drop them in a bag for a child that will never remember that Valentine.
Now should I be trying to impress other mothers? Making all these cutesy little bags and stuff? Because to be honest, my kids bring home all their little baggies and I cut off the top, dump the contents into our big candy bowl and toss all the rest. I don't sit and look at all the stuff and say "Oh that is crafty" and "How cute it that". Because me? I am not impressed. And my kids? Could care less, they just want the candy anyway! And I don't have time to compete with all the other mothers who have time during their day to do that!
Tell me, did I fail miserably?
