Well we have had quite the week so far. It started out at about 11:15pm Monday night. Steven was in sleeping, I went in to go to bed and thought Christopher sounded awfully congested and I couldn't really get to sleep until about 1am....he woke up at about 1:20am and was having the hardest time breathing.....I handed him to Steven and put my clothes on and said I'm taking him to ER. So I left with Christopher to go to the ER. I called mom to come stay with Thomas so that Steven could come after me. Got to ER and they assessed him, said he has
RSV! Okay so we took him back and they gave him two breathing treatments, and when the on call Doc told us we could admit him or we could go home, I asked her what she thought was best and she said well if they admit him they are just going to monitor him. So we opted to take him home, at 6:30am. My regular
pediatrician called at 9am, asked how he was doing and I said well he's still struggling to breathe. So he said bring him down ASAP. So I didn't even have time to shower or anything, back in the car seat and away we go. Get to the docs office, and he assesses him and he said Nope....you go straight from here to the hospital, go to admitting and then up to Pediatrics. Okay! So off to the hospital. And he was admitted and given oxygen and monitored. Good thing parents get to stay there with their babies! Not that it mattered much I didn't get any sleep! So he was on oxygen for the first day, and he was just really uncomfortable! The monitored his breathing, he was really struggling to breathe, and he had this awful
barky raspy cough. It was horrible! My heart ached for him and so did anyone who called me and heard him over the phone. We had such a rough night the first night and the doc decided to keep him another night! So he spent 2 nights in the hospital and one night in the ER! Then we were discharged and had to go see an
ENT doctor to see about his little flap
thingie....which I finally got the name of! It's called
Laryngomalacia. So no time to go home from the hospital, we left there and went directly to see the
ENT, which he proceeded to put this little scope down his nose and into his throat. That poor little boy. And let me tell you despite him being week, having a lack of sleep and being sick...he's STRONG! It took all I had to hold his legs and arms down and my mom to hold his head against me so they could scope him. Well on top of the RSV he has
Croup, and an ear infection. And he has
Laryngomalacia, which is what made all this much more difficult for him! Needless to say he is home now, and he is improving! You can still see his sternum suck in to his backbone when you lay him flat and he breathes, but he is improving! He's on some medication for the croupy cough as well as some antibiotics for the ear infection, so hopefully he will be feeling a whole lot better by the end of the weekend. The pics are a little fuzzy because they came off my cell phone. And while I was in the hospital with Christopher, Dad was home with Thomas, who was also a sick little boy too! So I felt horrible I couldn't be with both my sick ones at the same time, but he did okay with Dad!!!
